Creating a Unified Digital Platform for Dublin GAA
Dublin GAAServices
One County, One Digital Home.
Dublin GAA stands as a central pillar of Dublin's sporting and cultural identity, overseeing Men’s Football, Ladies Football, Camogie and Hurling. With a passionate following across all codes, they represent excellence and community spirit throughout the county.
The primary objective was to consolidate Dublin GAA's fragmented online presence – previously spread across three separate websites – into a single, unified digital platform. This landmark project was the first of its kind for a GAA county board in Ireland.
To present a cohesive brand identity, improve publishing agility, enhance site performance and deliver a seamless user experience for fans, players, coaches and administrators.
Key challenges included:
- overcoming the inefficiencies of the old system
- striking the right balance between brand consistency
- and the need for flexible content updates across different teams.
We approached this challenge with a user-centric strategy. Through extensive UX exploration, including user testing of navigational structures and sitemaps, we designed an intuitive architecture.
The core solution features dedicated 'mini-sections' for each of the four codes, accessible via the main navigation. This provides a tailored experience for followers of specific sports while maintaining a consistent overall design and user journey.
To reduce reliance on developers for routine updates, we implemented a flexible, component-based design system. This allows content creators to build and modify pages efficiently, ensuring both brand integrity and content agility.
Additionally, the integration with Dublin GAA’s YouTube channel automatically populates the site with the latest videos, streamlining content workflows and keeping the site dynamic. Historical news content was carefully migrated to ensure continuity.
We implemented a flexible, component-based design system to empower the Dublin GAA team (off the pitch!) and reduce reliance on developers for routine updates.
Key features of the new platform include:
Combined News & Video Wall: Aggregating updates from all four codes into one central hub.
Dedicated Sport Mini-Sections: Offering focused content for each specific sport.
Detailed Player Pages: Providing profiles, stats and information to connect fans with players.
Automated Video Integration: Keeping video content fresh via direct YouTube synchronisation.
Component-Based Flexibility: Enabling easy content management and page building for internal teams.
The new website successfully launched as a unified, high-performance digital home for Dublin GAA. It delivers a vastly improved experience for all users, strengthens the Dublin GAA brand online and provides the internal team with the tools needed for efficient and agile digital communications, positioning them strongly for the future.
